Regent Mall is committed to helping the environment and promoting green best practices. As part of the mall's ongoing sustainability program know as GREEN AT WORK™, we are excited to announce our newest initiative - "Green Parking".
Reserved Green/Hybrid Parking spots are now located near Toys R Us. “The Green reserved spaces are intended for all fuel efficient vehicles. it is our way of saying thank you to our customers for going green,” says General Manager, Colleen Parent-Meade. “We are very proud of our BOMA BESt green building certification, which we achieved last year, and consider this new initiative one more way we can promote green living to our customers.”
In order to be eligible to park in a Green spot customers must have a vehicle that has a fuel consumption rating of 6.0 Litres /100 kilometers or less. This includes many popular inexpensive models of vehicles such as the Toyota Corolla, Chevrolet Cobalt, Honda Civic, Ford Focus and Mazda 3.
Signage has been posted at the parking spaces stating the above qualification to help educate customers on who can utilize the spaces. Customers can check the fuel efficiency of their vehicle by visiting www.oee.nrcan.gc.ca, clicking on the transportation link and using the fuel consumption ratings tool.
Regent Mall was the first business in the city to implement reserved Family Parking spaces over 10 years ago. There are now 18 spaces dedicated to serving these customers.
In addition, the mall received a Gold rating from the Canadian Paraplegic Association for accessibility, stating that Regent Mall has more than the required reserved Handicap Parking spaces.
